Where The Crawdads Sing

Delia Owens’ bestseller has been on my favourite book list for years. The isolation and abandonment of little Kya in the lonely marshlands of North Carolina is distressing to say the least. Obviously, as a parent I wanted to reach into the book and pull the child into a hug. While the movie does paint a gorgeous pic of the marshes of North Carolina, the book has already done the job of conjuring up the imagery just as well, if not better. The book left me sobbing and yet not wanting to put it down. Alternatively, the movie did not evoke the same intense feelings. Book Kya will always be one of my great literary loves.
