Michael Crichton’s Timeline is one I haven’t seen on many “must-read books” lists – in the time travel genre or otherwise. For me it’s one of those books that haven’t received its full due. I love the way the book builds from the discovery of the old man in the desert to the big reveal in the end and a much deserved comeuppance. It was well-paced and gorgeously written, typical of Crichton’s style. The movie was a train wreck. It was rushed, the dialogues were stale, the action bleh and the story telling lazy. Even Michael Crichton hated it. He hated it so much that he refused to licence any more movies based on his novel. Imagine that.
