Weekends are so polarising. One weekend you just want to vegetate at home in your pyjamas, the next you want to spend at malls, in a theatre or taking a walk on Marine Drive. While making the most of a weekend isn’t that difficult in Mumbai, sometimes you just need some direction. So, I suggest the next time you want to spend the weekends outdoors, revisit this article and then tell us what you did in the comments!

Go for Brunch

A big brunch followed by window shopping, or a big brunch followed by a long nap, or a big brunch followed by a movie. Anything after a big brunch sounds good, doesn’t it. And there is no lack of great places for such a meal. Every palate can be pampered, you just need to find the right place.

Suzette’s, Kyani & Co., Poetry by Love and Cheesecake, Irish House, Ram Ashray, Cafe Madras, Stadium  – there’s something absolutely satisfying for whatever you crave on a lovely Saturday Morning.

Visit Sanjay Gandhi National Park

After a gruelling week traversing Mumbai roads, or staying home working in front of a screen, the green canopies of Sanjay Gandhi National Park can be a great way to unwind. Just walk around, relax with a book, take a tiger safari or sit and bird watch – precious little works better than a quiet walk through nature.

Chill on the steps of Asiatic Library

Bollywood and Asiatic Library have a torrid love affair and we’re all for it. From Pyaasa to Shootout at Lokhandwala, these steps have featured in some of the most iconic movies of all times. The gorgeous white steps serve as an amazing place to get some great shots as the sun hits at all the right places.

Visit Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya

Previously called the Prince of Wales Museum, this stunning piece of architectural history has some of the most beautiful artefacts. Well documented, well presented and well maintained you can spend hours in this place and then head out to any number of close by restaurants for lunch – Mondegar, Cafe Leopold, Stadium, Bagdadi, Bade Miyas, Gaylord are all in the vicinity.

Go Paintballing

There are multiple places in the city where you can enjoy some gratuitous paintball action. Headrush and Hakone in Powai, OWG Paintball and Adventure Sports in Oshiwara, and Smaaash in Ghatkopar are some of the places you can have a great time with friends.

Watch a movie

There is no dearth of great screens across Mumbai playing the latest flick. Head over to the mall, walk around, window shop or actually shop, grab a bite to eat and then enjoy a movie. It’s one of the most common things to do with your weekend, if you don’t want to plan too much but don’t want to stay home either.

Take a guided tour

Sometimes you need to be a tourist in your own city to fully appreciate its majesty. Opt for a guided tour through this city of dreams one weekend and truly enjoy its splendour. Heritage walks, food walks, gawking at art or even cycling around before dawn. There’s much happening and you should make the most of it. Check out the guided tours online.

Unwind with AIR

After the entire day out in the city, getting home and curling up with a cool drink and some good music sounds like just the thing to do. We suggest tuning in to 107.1 AIR at 9:15 pm and let RJ Fali take you on one of his amazing tours of music. The perfect end to a day spent on your own terms.

Now that’s a weekend worth waiting for.
